Technicolor Plans 60,000 Square Feet In Culver City: Reports

The multimedia studio plans to occupy a new office complex on Washington Boulevard in July.

CULVER CITY, CA — Technicolor Creative Studios is moving to Culver City, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The studio, which has contributed to films like “West Side Story” and “Cruella” and also creates video games, special effects, and animation, will occupy 60,000 square feet of production space over four floors at 8888 Washington Boulevard in Culver City. Next door, the studio is building a 4,750-square-foot virtual production space, the company told the LA Times.

The Technicolor Creative Hub offices are expected to open in July, beginning an 11-year lease. The company expects to host about 380 employees.

The French-owned conglomerate, Technicolor SA, currently has offices all over LA, including an advertising division in Culver City. Creative studios include Moving Picture Company, The Mill, Mikros Animation, and Technicolor Games.

This will be the first time that all divisions will be under the same roof.

The company has experienced a change in fortune: it filed for bankruptcy in 2020, but went through a restructuring, and has been boosted by demand for its visual effects services.
