LOS ANGELES, CA — A Whole Foods Market is in development at Sepulveda and Palms boulevards in Palms.

Located at 3443 S. Sepulveda Blvd., the Whole Foods is set to open up in the building that housed an Albertsons from 1978 to 2015. After the Albertsons closed, the site was set to be redeveloped into a seven-story mixed-used building with over 400 apartments, but those plans fell through, city documents show.

Whole Foods submitted initial application documents with the city in August and earlier this month. A representative for the company confirmed to Patch that it's planning to open a new store on the site, but declined to provide a timeline.

The company plans to renovate the building's interior and exterior. The store will include meat, deli and bakery departments and a kitchen. It hopes to sell a full line of beer, wine and liquor and offer tastings, according to city documents.

The store would be open from 7 a.m. to either 11 p.m. or midnight and employ up to 160 people, according to city documents.

The building is located across the street from a plaza that houses a CVS, Trader Joe's and several restaurants.

Since the Albertsons closed in 2015, the property has been used to host carnivals, pumpkin patches and Christmas tree vendors.
