Atmospheric River In Danville: What To Know

Some tips to keep in mind ahead of 40 mph winds and 2-3 inches of rain.

DANVILLE, CA — An atmospheric river storm is barreling toward Danville Wednesday, bringing rains of up to 2-3 inches of rain Wednesday to Thursday. Wind gusts are expected to reach up to 40 mph.

The town is under a National Weather Service Flood Watch from 4 a.m. Wednesday until 4 a.m. Friday, and a Wind Advisory from 4 a.m. Wednesday to 4 a.m. Friday.

Residents are advised to take some time to remove leaves from their yard and around storm drains, put yard waste in the organics bin, avoid driving if possible, keep cars fueled, keep cell phones charged, have an emergency supply kit ready, secure items that can blow around, and keep garbage cans and cars at least one foot from the curb to avoid blocking water flow.

Residents are also advised to pick up sandbags. The sandbag station is open 24/7 at 1000 Sherburne Hills Road, and shovels are provided.
