Coroner IDs Danville Man Killed In Garage Fire

Authorities released the name of a 68-year-old man who died when his car caught fire and crashed into a garage, trapping him inside.

DANVILLE, CA — The Contra Costa County Sheriff Coroner's Division has identified a Danville man killed after he was trapped inside a burning car.

On Oct. 13 at around 1:13 p.m., 68-year-old John Domanico crashed his car into a garage on Oneida Court, according to police reports recounted in Danville San Ramon, KRON4, and the Bay Area News Group. Witnesses told police that Domanico was trapped inside, and firefighters arrived to find him dead inside the car. No one else was in the house or car, police said.

The fire spread from the garage to the rest of the home. Firefighters eventually contained the fire to the home, which remains standing though damaged, SRVFPD District Deputy Chief Jonas Aguiar told Patch.
