Danville Council To Consider Creating New Bicycle Advisory Board

The new commission will help implement the 2021 Bicycle Master Plan.

DANVILLE, CA — On Tuesday, the Danville Town Council will consider a draft ordinance creating a new Bicycle Advisory Board to help implement the town’s 2021 Bicycle Master Plan. The draft ordinance would eliminate the current bicycle advisory commission and replace it with a new committee.

The new group, which begins July 1 and is currently recruiting for three members, will be different from the old commission in a few ways, according to a town staff report:

  • It will be called a “commission” rather than a committee, a word reserved for council subcommittees like the Finance Committee or Legislative Committee.
  • It will comprise six members: two Parks commissioners, three at-large members, and one youth member.
  • It will report to the Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission with the express purpose of implementing the Bicycle Master Plan.
  • It would meet four times a year, though the council may choose to adjust that.

The meeting will take place Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Town Meeting Hall. It can also be viewed here. See here for the full agenda.
