Danville Hosting Memorial Day Ceremony, Mt. Diablo Beacon Lighting

Viet Nam Veterans of Diablo Valley are hosting a ceremony at Oak Hill Park, followed that evening by the ceremonial lighting of the beacon.

DANVILLE, CA — The Viet Nam Veterans of Diablo Valley are holding their 33rd annual Memorial Day Remembrance at Oak Hill Park Monday. The ceremony at the All Wars Memorial will feature live music at 10:30, followed by remarks by Rear Admiral Mary P. O'Donnell, a retired member of the United States Coast Guard.

At 8 p.m. Monday, the community is invited to joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 75 and other local veterans organizations at the Veterans Memorial Building in Danville, will they will continue the tradition of lighting the aviation beacon on the Mount Diablo summit. The Mount Diablo Beacon is lit every year on Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attacks.

The Veterans Memorial Building will be open Tuesday, May 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. for visitors to view historic photos and memorabilia inside.
