Kiwanis Parade Countdown In Danville: What To Expect

Get details on road closures, parking options and COVID-19 safety protocols for the Kiwanis Club of the San Ramon Valley parade.

DANVILLE, CA — Plans for the annual Kiwanis Club of the San Ramon Valley parade are starting to shape up.

The Town of Danville announced Monday a list of planned street closures, parking options and more as it prepares for the Labor Day weekend parade. The event is usually held on July 4 but was postponed this year amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Sixty groups registered to participate in the parade, the town said. The parade routinely draws about 40,000 people and is expected to last up to three hours, according to the Kiwanis.

Guests are asked to wear a face mask and should stay home if they are sick or have been exposed to the coronavirus.

"Community safety is a priority and spectators are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated, and wear a face covering," the town said in a statement.

Kiwanis Parade Route

The parade will begin 9 a.m. Sept. 4 and will begin on Hartz Avenue, near San Ramon Valley High School, and proceed southbound on a mile-and-a-half route that ends on San Ramon Valley Road near Sycamore Valley Road.

Planned Street Closures

The following streets will be closed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to the town.

  • Danville Boulevard between El Cerro Boulevard and Railroad Avenue.
  • Railroad Avenue between Hartz Avenue and Love Lane.
  • Love Lane between Railroad Avenue and Verona Avenue.
  • La Gonda Way between El Cerro Boulevard and Danville Boulevard.
  • Hartz Avenue between Railroad Avenue and Hartz Way.
  • San Ramon Valley Boulevard between Hartz Way and Sycamore Valley Road.
  • Westbound Sycamore Valley Road and Remington Loop between San Ramon Valley Boulevard and Sheri Lane.

Drivers may take Danville Boulevard from North El Cerro Boulevard or San Ramon Valley Boulevard, south of West Sycamore Valley Road.

Parking is available in the following town parking lots.

  • Front Street Municipal.
  • Railroad Avenue Municipal.
  • Clock Tower.
  • Park and Ride Lot, Sycamore Valley Road.
  • Danville Library/Community Center.
  • Rose Street.
  • Village Theatre.
