Danville Resident Launches National Healthy Dog Treat Brand
Danville Mayor Renee Morgan welcomed Champ's Pet Kitchen, founded by Danville resident Mike Wickman, into town.

DANVILLE, CA — When your dog's been extra good, you can reward him or her with some Danville-grown treats.
Longtime Danville resident Mike Wickman recently celebrated the launch of Champ's Pet Kitchen, a brand of healthy, affordable soft-chew treats for dogs. The treats are made with 25% protein, 2% fat, and without any corn, wheat, soy or fillers. Champ's launched five new recipes: beef, pork, chicken, grain-free chicken, and grain-free salmon.
"At Champ’s, we believe dog treats should be as healthy and trustworthy as the food we eat ourselves. That means real meat, clean ingredients, and targeted nutrition—without the premium price," Champ's said in its mission statement. "When we couldn’t find dog treats that met our standards, we created our own."

Champ's has expanded far beyond Dr. Shipman's office: it can be found at C&K Market in California and Oregon, Holiday Market and Sav-Mor Foods in Northern California, Times Supermarkets, Don Quijote, Safeway in Hawaii, and on Amazon.
