Danville Startup Offers Simulation-Based Driving Lessons
Greenlight Simulation, a school in which driving students can practice virtual driving, is offering open houses this weekend.

DANVILLE, CA — The best way to learn anything in life is to try it, but when it comes to driving, that can be dangerous. A Danville startup is trying to change that.
Greenlight Simulation, which was founded in a Danville garage, allows driving students to practice their driving in a virtual world designed by driving experts who have trained US Special Forces, professional racing drivers, and US Department of State foreign service personnel. Its training courses incorporate immersive scenarios that incorporate things like red lights, pedestrians, emergency maneuvers, and more. At the end of each session, students receive a scorecard and a video replay of their driving, which focuses on where their eyes were looking.
“Learning to drive hasn’t changed in 30 years and we’re going to fix that. Instead of just throwing new drivers behind the wheel like we do now, Greenlight’s simulation offerings enable new drivers to practice the basic foundational skills needed for driving along with the dangerous, difficult, and scary aspects of driving, all in the safety of a virtual world,” CEO Jason Zimmerman said in a statement.
