Danville Students Go On Financial Literacy Game Show
The touring finance education game show "Who Wants to be a Bazillionaire" made a stop at Diablo Vista Middle School Wednesday.
DANVILLE, CA — Students at Diablo Vista Middle School scrambled around stage Wednesday as they learned about everything from inflation to spending and saving.
The students were participating in American Public Media’s “Who Wants to be a Bazillionaire,” a traveling game show that teaches students about financial literacy. “Money isn’t a game, but who says learning healthy money habits can’t be fun and free?” the quiz show asks. The show is decked out to look like a traditional game show, and features live actors, audience participation, and high-stakes challenges that teach important concepts about financial literacy.
Twenty-seven states, including California, don’t require personal finance courses, and American teenagers recently scored an average of 64% on the National Financial Literacy Test, according to the program. Assembly Bill 2927, proposed by Kevin McCarty of Sacramento, aims to make financial literacy a high school graduation requirement in the state.
