A Danville teen and his cousin are accused of breaking into a Santa Rosa church and causing serious damage. They face felony charges.

DANVILLE, CA — A Danville teen is accused of burglarizing and vandalizing a church in Santa Rosa, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.

Employees of the Santa Rosa Bible Church told the Santa Rosa Police Department that on Saturday, May 17, two teen boys entered the campus through an unsecured door and began throwing items around. Police say they broke a toilet in the bathroom, defecated on the bathroom floor, and urinated on the gymnasium floor. The two boys also allegedly damaged the brand-new children's play structure outside.

Police used security footage to identify the two boys. On Monday at around 10 a.m., they arrested a 14-year-old Santa Rosa resident. He was booked into Juvenile Hall on felony burglary and vandalism charges.

“We know you’re growing, learning, and figuring things out — but here’s something that always matters: respecting other people’s property," the Santa Rosa Police Department said in a statement addressed to the youth community. "Breaking into homes, schools, or businesses, or tagging and vandalizing buildings and property might seem like “no big deal” in the moment — but it hurts real people and damages the community we all share.”
