Danville Town Council To Consider Removing 2 Bicycle Commissioners

The council will vote on whether to end the terms of longtime cycling advocates Bruce Bilodeau and Alan Kalin.

DANVILLE, CA — The Danville Town Council Tuesday will consider removing two of the founding members of the Bicycle Advisory Commission.

The council will vote on whether to remove Bruce Bilodeau and Alan Kalin, two prominent local bike safety advocates. Bilodeau is the current chair of the Bicycle Advisory Commission and team director of the San Ramon Valley Mountain Bike Club. Kalin helped establish 67 new bike turnouts in Mount Diablo State Park, and was named one of the Bay Area 2023 Bike Champion of the Year by Bike to Wherever Days. Both are members of Mount Diablo Cyclists.

Bilodeau and Kalin have served since 2022, when the commission began its mission of helping to implement the 2021 Bicycle Master Plan. Their terms are planned to last until 2026, so if the council votes to remove them, the town would recruit interim members to fill their terms, according to a town staff report.
