Local Legislators, Superintendents To Address New Education Politics

A group of local PTAs are hosting Advocacy Day, where local students and leaders will address the rapidly changing education landscape.

DANVILLE, CA — The San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs, Pleasanton Council of PTAs, Las Trampas Creek Council of PTAs, Peralta District PTA, and 32nd District PTA are hosting an Advocacy Da yon April 25 to discuss how recent political changes are affecting California.

The lineup will feature of a number of expert speakers, including:

  • A keynote presentation by California Legislative Analyst Office Senior Fiscal and Policy Adviser Ken Kapphahn on fiscal and policy considerations affecting education funding and programs.
  • A student panel to discuss student perspectives on how changing education policy impacts their learning and opportunities.
  • Superintendents CJ Cammack (SRVUSD), Chris Funk (DUSD), Maurice Ghysels (PUSD), John Nickerson (Acalanes USD), and Julie Parks (Moraga USD) to discuss managing funding uncertainties.
  • Local legislators will discuss navigating new federal mandates, and securing education funding. Confirmed attendees include Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, Aisha Wahab, Mia Bonta, and Mark DeSaulnier.

PTA Advocacy Day will take place Friday, April 25 at 8:30 a.m. at the San Ramon Community Center at 12501 Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon. Tickets cost $48 and include a continental breakfast and box lunch. See here to register.
