Map: Danville's Dangerous Intersections
The fatal accident at Sycamore and Brookside Monday was bound to happen, say local residents who saw many close calls there. Are there other problem areas you are concerned about? Post them on this map by clicking the "add" button.

One person was killed and two seriously injured in an accident Monday afternoon at Sycamore Valley Road and Brookside Drive.
Patch readers are commenting that the wreck, which left an SUV overturned and smashed up, was not a surprise given what they routinely see happen at that intersection.
"Since I live right off Brookside I have seen many times people running the lights on Sycamore," wrote Patch user Kelly. "I've watched in shock as cars zoom by and cars from the cross street are just seconds behind these red light runners. I take a breath and say a prayer for the people who made it through only to see it happen today.

"This is overwhelmingly horrific! Somebody said maybe because of the sun (the driver) didn't see the light had changed. I've seen people run that light when it was so obvious it was red. I think they are not paying attention, think it's a light that does not matter or are just in too much of a hurry. No matter what, any cross street on Sycamore is not safe. Red light running is a given. Never assume they are going to stop. Tell all your teen drivers, slow..stop...look...even with the green. Brookside is the worst because bushes and stuff block the view until you are in the intersection...Prayers and more prayers go out to (the victims) and their familes.
If you know of other problem intersections, please post them on the accompanying map, which we created recently to run with 's article about dangerous streets around Danville.
