Marvel Movie Star To Give Out Samples At East Bay Costco

Hurry for a chance to get served dumplings by Simu Liu, of Marvel and Kim's Convenience fame.

DANVILLE, CA — Meeting a famous actor and getting free samples at Costco are both pretty exciting. Put them together, and it's next-level.

That’s exactly what you’ll get if you hurry to the Costco in Danville this afternoon, where Marvel and “Kim’s Convenience” star Simu Liu will be serving dumplings from 4 to 6 p.m.

Liu, 36, will be serving samples of soup dumplings from Chinese brand MìLà, which sells different varieties of ready-to-cook dumplings. Liu was named the chief content officer of MìLà in 2023.

“Word on the street is @simuliu might be wearing this exact outfit 👀 Drop by @costco Bay Area this Thursday, grab some soup dumplings, and find out for yourself. He’ll be slinging dumplings from 4-6pm 🥟 See you there!” MìLà posted on Instagram, next to a picture of Liu in an apron and ostensibly not too much else.

Liu was born in China and grew up in Canada. He came to prominence starring as Shang-Chi in the 2021 Marvel Cinematic Universe film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and portrayed Jung Kim on the popular CBC TV show “Kim’s Convenience.” He also starred as one of the Ken dolls in the 2023 “Barbie” movie. In 2022, he was named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World.
