DANVILLE, CA — Monte Vista High School and Charlotte Wood Middle School were placed on secure status Thursday due to an "unspecified threat" later deemed non-credible, according to an email sent by SRVUSD Superintendent CJ Cammack.

"Danville Police Department responded Thursday afternoon to Charlotte Wood Middle School after receiving a report of a student making threats of violence against the Charlotte Wood and Monte Vista High School campuses," the Danville Police Department told Patch in a statement.

The schools were placed on secure status for about 20 minutes, which means instruction continues behind locked doors. During that time, school officials worked with the Danville Police Department to determine that the threat was not credible. The student involved was located and detained prior to dismissal, police said.

At the same time, an ambulance was present at Monte Vista due to an unrelated staff medical emergency, according to Cammack and the DPD.

"No threats were made regarding any of our other campuses, and thus, their operations were not impacted," he wrote. "However, we recognize that our schools and our families are connected in many ways through many schools, and this incident may have caused concern beyond MVHS and CWMS."
