Patch Hires New Danville-Alamo Editor

Patch readers, please welcome , the new editor of Danville Patch, which also covers Alamo.

Parris, previously the editor of Ferndale Patch outside of Detroit, is relocating to the East Bay this week. We expect him to start his new position on Wednesday.

At Ferndale Patch, launched in November of 2010, Parris covered everything from homicides to small businesses and development, not to mention a lengthy summer power outage that put his Patch on the map as the community's go-to source of news and information.

But what he really discovered there is how much every Patch site is completely dependent upon the relationship it builds with local residents. The editor certainly plays an important role, posting stories, photos and videos, but it's the interaction between the site and community that makes it so much more.

The East Bay Patch team is looking forward to having such an experienced editor take the helm of the Danville site, which turns 2 years old in February.

Before coming to Patch, Parris spent two years working for a weekly online magazine and was a special projects editor for six online newsletters. He also worked for small newspapers and has experience in creating video and audio slide shows.

Parris is a graduate of Wayne State University, where he majored in journalism.

We thank interim Editor , along with freelance editor/writers Amy McCurdy and Martha Ross, among others, for taking good care of Danville during our search for a new editor.
