Persimmons are so underrated but tend to be plentiful at the farmers markets and many grocery stores right about now in California. They are so special, and really something to look forward to this time of year!
This super quick, last-minute dessert recipe shows off the stunning, honeyed flavors of these fruits. Prep takes about a half-hour. Mix the topping, spoon it over dough and bake!

Tarts are so low-maintenance and I love them. Technically, this is a galette, or an open-faced tart.
Thinly sliced persimmons add something special to this tart, which features tons of warm, cozy flavors, like cinnamon and caramel-y brown sugar. There’s a kiss of vanilla, too.

The persimmons sit on a buttery pie crust, topped with orange marmalade. But you can use whatever jelly you like best — apple and apricot are fabulous here, too.

This is a perfect treat for the cooler weather we enjoy this time of year and is quite simple to prepare, even if you choose to make the dough from scratch (which, by the way, is totally easy as long as you’ve got a food processor).
If you buy frozen pastry dough, this will be even quicker to make!
