DANVILLE, CA — For over 38 years, Danville locals have been asking the same question: "Who the hell is Pete?"

They're inquiring about the name of Pete's Brass Rail and Car Wash, which, as people point out, there's no brass rail or car wash. Instead, there's a homey pub that's often been referred to as the "Cheers" of the East Bay, where generations gather to enjoy quality craft beer and pub food, and holidays.

Since 1987, Pete's has served a total of nearly 5,000 different brews of beer to members of its Beer Club, where members track the number of beers served. Any member who gets to 100 different beers gets their name on the wall and a prize.
