Restaurant Closes: Choza Cantina Blackhawk
Restaurant patrons praised the food, margaritas and staff, while expressing disappointment that another eatery has closed in Blackhawk Plaza
DANVILLE, CA — Choza Cantina in Blackhawk Plaza has closed down, the restaurant announced on its Facebook page on Thursday. The restaurant owners thanked their staff and customers, while taking a swipe at the management of the shopping center.
"Want to thank all of my coworkers that I consider family," the post began. "I want to thank all of my guest that I consider family. The journey had to have an end and today marks the end."
The tone of the post then shifted. "Expensive rent, no enough foot traffic, finally got to us and we cannot longer keep our doors open. Thanks again!!!"

Patrons of the restaurant were quick to express their dismay about the closure. Jeffrey Biancalana wrote, "You guys are one of our favorite restaurants. It was a bit of a drive for us, but always worth it. I will truly miss watching my kids play on the playground across the pond while sipping delicious margaritas with my wife on your patio. Best of luck to you all in your future endeavors."
Christine McBride Battles was also supportive, "We are so sorry to hear this news, Fernando. You have all worked so tirelessly to allow every guest to have a great experience at your restaurant.
We hope that new adventures and opportunities are awaiting you. Wishing you all the best in your endeavors."
