DANVILLE, CA — The San Ramon Valley High School football team is headed to the state championships in Orange County over the weekend. To celebrate their first time at state championships, the Wolves will depart Friday morning in style. At 7 a.m., the team will drive down Hartz Avenue and Danville Boulevard led by a Danville Police Department motorcade. The community is encouraged to stop by to cheer them on.

The Wolves are headed to Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, where they will compete against Granite Hills High School, located in El Cajon near San Diego. The team advanced to the finals in a dramatic and rainy game last Saturday against the previously undefeated Marin Catholic High School. With just 18 seconds left on the clock, junior kicker Austin Shelton kicked a 37-yard field goal, his second of the night. Thanks to that goal, the team beat Marin Catholic 19-17 and won the Northern California 2-A title game.

“To make a game-winning kick was a dream ever since I was a kid,” Shelton told The Mercury News. “I was like, ‘Let’s go win this and go to state.’”
