SRVUSD Names Teachers Of The Year, Classified Employee Of The Year

The district named its Elementary Teacher of the Year, Secondary Teacher of the Year, and Classified Employee of the Year.

DANVILLE, CA — The San Ramon Valley Unified School District named its 2024 Teachers of the Year and Classified Employee of the Year, honoring staff who have made a sustained positive impact to its schools. Honorees will be nominated for Contra Costa County Teacher of the Year and Classified Employee of the Year.

Dima Khoury, a resource teacher at Neil Armstrong Elementary School in San Ramon, was named Elementary Teacher of the Year. "Dima Khoury is dedicated to creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences that help students thrive," the district said in a statement. "She consistently seeks out new strategies and tools to ignite her students’ passion for learning, using creative lesson plans, hands-on activities, and personalized teaching methods. Committed to supporting students with significant learning challenges, she works tirelessly to remove barriers to learning and advocates for their success."

Don Busboom, a social science teacher at San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, was named Secondary Teacher of the Year. "Whether he’s teaching, coaching, or mentoring, Don Busboom brings the same positivity, passion, and dedication to everything he does," the district said in a statement. "With nearly three decades of experience at SRVHS, he has shaped students’ understanding of U.S. History, Government, and Economics while also fostering their ability to think critically and engage with the world around them. His classroom is a place where students feel valued, respected, and challenged."

Kimber Monticelli, a secretary at Windemere Ranch Middle School in San Ramon, was named Classified Employee of the Year. "Kimber Monticelli is a pillar of support for students, staff, and families at Windemere Ranch Middle School, ensuring the seamless operation of daily school functions. From handling attendance and organizing substitute coverage to providing direct support for teachers and administrators, she executes every task with precision and care," the district said in a statement. "Through her unwavering commitment, Kimber helps foster a sense of unity among students, staff, and parents, reinforcing the school’s commitment to collaboration and inclusivity."
