Teaching residents will work with an SRVUSD teacher and receive a $32.5K stipend, teaching credential, priority hiring, and more.

DANVILLE, CA — The San Ramon Valley Unified School District is launching a residency program in partnership with Saint Mary’s College of California that will pair aspiring students with experienced SRVUSD mentor teachers.

Starting in the fall, teaching residents will work at a district school and assist an SRVUSD teacher for the year. They will gain hands-on experience in lesson planning, classroom management, and student support. Teaching residents will earn a $32,500 stipend for tuition and expenses, individualized support and mentorship, guaranteed substitute work two days per week, priority hiring upon completion of the program, and $500 toward exam fees.

The program is funded by a two-year grant from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. No funds from its existing budget were used.
