Week Ahead: National Night Out, Duck Soup and More.

The week ahead in Danville offers plenty of outdoor entertainment for adults and kiddies.

National Night Out

National Night Out is an annual summer event for residents to gather with neighbors and meet law enforcement. Residents can set aside time for this evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, August 6. Citizens are encouraged to set up block parties, get to know their neighbors over a potluck and chat with law enforcement. Details here.

Street Festival

The community is invited to shop and dine locally on Thursday, August 8 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be bistro dining, face-painting, bike parking and a bounce house. See event details here.

Moonlight Movies

Enjoy a movie under the stars this week. The Avengers will play on the Town Green at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, August 9. No registration necessary. Details here.

Rockin' the Plaza

This free summer concert series is every Friday in Blackhawk Plaza. This Friday, August 9, audience members can expect dancing along to timeless pop and soul music. Also, free sunglasses! Starts at 7 p.m. Event details here.

Films Through the Years

What's better than a Saturday double-feature matinee? On August 10, Village Theatre will feature The Marx Brothers' comedy "Duck Soup," and the James Dean classic "Rebel Without a Cause." General admission is $5, showtime is 2 p.m. More here.
