
U.S. Rep. Ed Royce, R-Fullerton, was among seven California Republican lawmakers to vote against a bill President Obama signed Thursday to end the federal government shutdown and increase the debt ceiling.
Also joining Royce with no votes on the legislation were Reps. John Campbell of Irvine, Jeff Denham of Turlock, Doug LaMalfa of Richvale, Duncan Hunter of Alpine, Dana Rohrabacher of Huntington Beach, reported the Los Angeles Times. Royce represents Walnut and Diamond Bar.
Republican lawmakers who voted in favor of the bill included Reps. Ken Calvert of Covina, Paul Cook of Yucca Valley, Gary Miller of Rancho Cucamonga, Darrell Issa of Vista, Howard "Buck" McKeon of Santa Clarita, David Valadao of Hanford and House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy of Bakersfield and Rep. Devin Nunes of Tulare, the newspaper reported.
All of California's Democratic members of the House voted yes on the bill.
With the federal shutdown over, workers furloughed during the Congressional stalemate are set to return to work today.
