Two Alleged Burglars Caught, a Third At-Large Prompts Search at Cal Poly

Two suspected burglars were nabbed today , while a third one who remains a large has prompted a search of Cal Poly Pomona. 

The Walnut Sheriff’s station received a call of a burglary at 2:55 p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mark Saldecke.   Shortly after the burglary was reported, deputies spotted a vehicle that matched the description given on the call and attempted to stop the suspects, he said.

The suspects drove into a mobile home park across from the Cal Poly Pomona, jumped out of the car and fled on foot.  Two were caught  quickly, he said.  A third remains at large.

University Police got involved around 3:14 p.m., said Emily Velasco, a university spokeswoman. Officers are going through University Village unit by unit and also searched nearby fields, she said.

The suspect at large is described as a Hispanic male wearing a brown shirt and blue jeans.
