Walnut's Friends Fur-Ever Offers Organic and Holistic Food for Pets

Health food stores aren't just for humans anymore.

They are also for pets and Walnut has one that specializes in premium, natural, holistic, and organic foods specifically for dogs and cats.

Friends Fur-Ever Pet Food and the Regional Chamber of Commerce San Gabriel Valley hosted a ribbon cutting for the Valley Boulevard store on Friday, but the owners have been at the location since July 2012, said Ken Kanemaru, who owns the store with sons Garret and Kyle.

They largely have been drumming up business by word of mouth.  Customers also have logged on to yelp.com to review the store.

"People describe it as king of a Whole Foods of pet stores," Kanemaru said. "We specialize in offering foods for a lot of dogs that have medical conditions or allergies."

Besides pet food, the store sells toys, supplements, and other supplies.

Reviewers on yelp said they like the customer service, selection, and price.

"This is the only place we shop for high quality dog food and other products for our little boston terrier," wrote Lena S. of Chino Hills. "They only carry the best brands and their customer service is top notch! It's so refreshing since service is dying this day and age!"

Sabeena G, a Walnut resident, also gave the store high marks.

"Had to get some food for my dog and kitten and the employee working helped me the entire time..." she wrote in her review, "from the time I walked in to taking everything into my car...great quality cat and dog food with great prices."
