Step into Scotland for the weekend at California’s largest and longest-running Scottish celebration! A Bay Area tradition since 1866, the 159th Scottish Highland Gathering & Games promises a weekend of thrilling competition, vibrant entertainment, and rich cultural experiences for the whole family.
This year’s event proudly hosts the 2025 Women’s Scottish Heavy Athletics World Championships and the annual U.S. Championships for men and women—featuring elite athletes in feats of strength and skill. You can also enjoy the Games traditional Piping & Drumming, Highland Dancing, and Soccer competitions.
The entertainment continues with live performances from Scottish folk singers, Celtic rock bands, fiddlers and harpists, Scottish Country Dancers and Irish Dancers. Don’t miss the spectacular daily grandstand show, showcasing special guest pipe and military bands, and the stirring finale of the day—the ever-popular Massed Pipe Bands.
Wander through the Glen of the Clans, where clan members proudly share their tartans and family histories, or explore Scotland’s storied past in the immersive Living History re-enactment area.
Other attractions include sheepdog trials, birds of prey and Celtic animal exhibitions, and a charming display of vintage British cars. Tempt your tastebuds with a wide array of Scottish treats—from scones and Scotch eggs to bangers (sausages), pies, and fish and chips. Browse dozens of vendors offering kilts, tartan goods, jewelry, and other traditional wares. And for visitors 21 and over, be sure to sample fine Scotch and other whiskies at the popular Whisky Tasting venue.
