30 Musical Instruments Stolen From Dublin Elementary School

25 guitars and 5 ukuleles were stolen from the school after a door was left unlocked, officials said.

DUBLIN, CA — 25 guitars and five ukuleles were stolen from the Dublin Elementary School over the summer, according to the Dublin Unified School District and Dublin Police Services.

On Aug. 8, a Dublin Elementary School music teacher discovered that 25 Yamaha JR1 wood grain acoustic guitar and five Makala brand ukuleles were stolen from the stage of the multi-purpose room after someone left the door unlocked, according to the school district and police department. The guitars were each worth $100 and the ukuleles were each worth $50, totaling $2,750.

As of Wednesday, police do not have leads on suspects, according to DPS Captain Miguel Campos.

DES Principal Lauren McGovern said in a statement that community members have stepped forward to help replace the instruments.

"We are incredibly fortunate to have a talented, dedicated, and creative music teacher who has already developed plans to ensure every student continues to have an enriching musical experience. Guitars are just one of many instruments available to our students, and our program will continue to thrive as we work on replacing these instruments," McGovern said in a statement.
