5 Dublin Nonprofits To Support This Holiday Season

Giving Tuesday is coming up on Dec. 3, and Dublin and the Tri-Valley are full of nonprofits doing amazing work.

DUBLIN, CA - If you’re like many of your Dublin neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.

Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs. Below are five great Dublin nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday.

However, they are only a few of the many nonprofits in and around Dublin doing incredible work. The Dublin Chamber of Commerce and the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance provide extensive lists of local nonprofits. We also published two lists last year that highlight impressive local organizations.

  1. The Biletnikoff Foundation honors the memory of Tracey Biletnikoff through addressing the challenges of substance abuse, domestic violence, and human trafficking among young people through education and community programs. They run Tracey’s Place of Hope and the Biletnikoff Center of Hope, residential programs for adolescent girls in crisis. In 2023, they opened a Healing Center in Nevada, which provides treatment for teen girls, particularly victims of sex trafficking.
  2. The Dublin Arts Collective aims to promote and support visual arts in the Bay Area through collaborations with artists, communities, and other art organizations. They host a number of art shows, and an Artist Connection organization to help build community among local artists.
  3. The Dublin Senior Foundation raises money for programs to promote the growth and development of the Dublin Senior Center, provide seniors with the opportunity to participate in community services, and support programs that meet the needs of the local senior community.
  4. The East Bay SPCA is an animal shelter that prides itself on being “more than a shelter.” It provides a vet clinic, youth programs like supervised volunteering for children, animal camps for kids and teens, and school programs that give students a chance to meet animals and learn about animal welfare. They also run a pantry for pet food, and board animals whose parents are experiencing housing instability, among other services.

We know this is just the tip of the iceberg for all the good work being done in the area. If you’d like us to spotlight a particular organization, email michael.wittner@patch.com.
