The upcoming celebration will feature live music and demonstrations, vintage military vehicles and uniforms, food, and crafts.

DUBLIN, CA — The city of Dublin and Camp Parks are hosting a special event on June 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the US Army. The celebration and commemoration at Don Biddle Park will feature live demonstrations from military personnel, displays of vintage military vehicles and uniforms, and a recognition of prisoners of war and those missing in action.
The celebration will also feature live entertainment from the U.S. Army Band and other local artists, as well as games, food and crafts.
The Parks Reserve Forces Training Area, more commonly known as Camp Parks, was established in 1943 as a Navy base for Seabees during World War II. Over the decades, it has evolved into a vital training center for over 20,000 Army Reserve and National Guard soldiers. Many military personnel spent significant time at Camp Parks, and relocated to Dublin following their service, particularly after World War II.

On Friday, in the leadup to the celebration, the Dublin City Council joined service members and dignitaries and Camp Parks to relocate the iconic Camp Parks sign and guardhouse. The sign was built by the Navy Seabees in the 1940s, and is one of the few surviving examples of World War II-era military base architecture. The restored sign will go through a formal restoration process before it is relocated to the main entrance of Camp Parks.
