$1K Dublin Scholarship Deadline Extended: New Due Date

A computer glitch prompts an extension for graduating seniors seeking a $1,000 award.

DUBLIN, CA — The City of Dublin has announced an extension to the application deadline for the Don Biddle Memorial Scholarship for graduating high school seniors. Initially set earlier, the deadline was extended due to a computer glitch affecting the application process. This scholarship, offered by Team Dublin, a community service committee of City of Dublin employees, provides a $1,000 award to a deserving senior planning to attend college or vocational school in the fall of 2025.

To be eligible, applicants must be high school seniors residing in Dublin, graduating in 2025 from a public, private, or homeschool. They must also demonstrate a commitment to a career in public service. The scholarship honors Don Biddle, a long-time public servant who served the Dublin community for over 40 years, including on the Dublin City Council. It aims to recognize students with high scholarship and civic leadership, particularly those interested in pursuing a career in public service.

Applications can now be submitted via email to sarah.monnastes@dublin.ca.gov until Sunday, April 20, at 10:00 p.m. Alternatively, applications may be mailed or dropped off at the City of Dublin City Manager’s Office, located at 100 Civic Plaza, by Friday, April 18, at 5:00 p.m. This extension provides additional time for students to complete and submit their applications.

The scholarship award is based on several criteria, including responses to three essay questions and two letters of recommendation from non-relatives who can speak to the applicant's interest in public service. A completed application form, titled “Don Biddle Memorial Scholarship Application 2025,” is also required and can be found online. Instructions for the application process are also available on the City of Dublin’s website.

This extended deadline offers a valuable opportunity for Dublin’s graduating seniors to apply for financial assistance and recognition of their civic involvement. The Don Biddle Memorial Scholarship not only supports students' educational pursuits but also encourages future engagement in public service, honoring the legacy of a dedicated community leader.
