DUBLIN, CA — Two Dublin High School seniors received National Honor Society scholarships, which recognize “scholarship, service, leadership, and character,” the four pillars of the National Honor Society. The NHS is one of the oldest and largest student organizations in American high schools, with more than 1.4 million student members as of 2023. Since 1946, it has awarded more than $25 million in scholarships.

This year, Justin Chuck and Seoyun Kim were the only students in the Tri-Valley to receive the scholarships. As two of 575 national semi-finalists, they received $3,200. Finalists receive $5,625. At Trailblazing Leadership Week, four pillar Award winners receive an additional $5,000, and the national winner receives a total of $25,000.

"This prestigious recognition not only highlights Justin and Seoyun’s hard work and dedication but also shines a light on the supportive, nurturing environment Dublin High strives to provide for all its students,” DHS Principal Maureen Byrne said in a statement. “Their accomplishment is a testament to their outstanding academic achievements, community service, leadership, and character. We are immensely proud of them.”
