The district named its School Site Teachers of the Year and Classified Employees of the Year.

DUBLIN, CA —Dublin Unified School District released its list of Teacher of the Year, School Sites Teachers of the Year, Classified Employee of the Year, and Classified Employees of the Year. The awards were based on peer reviews.

Emerald High School health teacher Joy Sherratt was named DUSD Teacher of the Year. Sharrett has been an educator for 16 years, and spent all but one of those years in Dublin. She began her career at Fallon Middle School, then worked as a coach in the Tri-Valley Teacher Induction Program before she moved to Dublin High School. Sheratt currently teaches 9th grade health at Emerald. She holds a BA from UC Irvine, and a teacher's credential and master's degree from the University of San Francisco.

“Joy is a pillar of our Emerald community,” said Emerald High Principal Lenni Velez, who then shared the following statement from her colleagues: “She has been spearheading our PBIS/Climate and Culture, which is one of the most important things for our young school. She has the trust of the staff and does a great job. Joy’s passion and dedication to the school and building a positive culture have inspired others to become an active part of our culture. She truly walks the talk—her positive attitude, behavior, and leadership are evident in everything she does. She listens to, values, and respects every member of our PBIS team.”
