DUSD, Dublin Teachers Reach Tentative Agreement, Averting Strike

The new agreement includes a 6% total salary bump.

DUBLIN, CA — The Dublin Unified School District reached a tentative agreement with the Dublin Teachers Association, averting the possibility of a strike.

DUSD teachers will receive a total six percent pay raise for the 2023-24 year, which comprises a 4.5% increase retroactive to July 1, 2023, and 1.5% effective May 1, according to the district. New and existing teachers will also be compensated for up to eight years of prior full-time TK-12 teaching experience, an increase over the previous five year requirement.

Elementary school teachers will also receive an additional 18 prep periods throughout the year, from 90 to 118.

“We are pleased to share that the District and the Dublin Teachers Association (DTA) have reached a tentative agreement to resolve negotiations for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school years. We’d like to thank our union partners in DTA for their time, collaboration, and commitment to reaching this tentative agreement,” Superintendent Chris Funk said in a statement sent Friday evening.

The Dublin Teachers Association did not respond to Patch’s request for comment.

The agreement ends months of negotiations, which almost resulted in a strike when no agreement was reached following a March 11 fact-finding meeting.

A similar situation unfolded in Pleasanton, where PUSD and the Association of Pleasanton Teachers reached a tentative agreement that very day. Pleasanton teachers received a 10% ongoing salary increase, full Kaiser single health coverage, increases to stipends, credit for years of service, and a reduction in high school class sizes.
