DUSD Names 2023-24 Classified Employees Of The Year

Peers nominated non-teaching staff for their exemplary performance.

DUBLIN, CA — The Dublin Unified School District announced its 2023-24 Classified Employees of the Year, which honors staff who aren’t teachers or coaches. The employees were nominated by their peers, and their names will be entered into the Alameda County Office of Education Employee of the Year Award.

  • Technical Services: Mary Washington
  • Clerical & Administrative Services: Deborah Visovsky
  • Food & Nutrition Services: Teresa Meza
  • Custodial & Maintenance: Carly Mendoza
  • Health & Student Services: Helen Doyle
  • Skilled Trades: Kevin Reynolds
  • Paraprofessional: Virginia “Ginny” Wolfenberger

Teresa Meza, the nutrition staff lead at Fallon Middle School, was named Employee of the Year. Meza has been with the district since 2007, and spent all but two years at Fallon.

“Serving meals to over 1600 students is not easy, but Teresa does so with a smile on her face,” Fallon Middle School Principal Candice Baligiya said in a statement. “She brings warmth and comfort to any room. Ms. Meza is selfless with a servant's heart. She ensures our child nutrition staff is supported and our students are nourished every day. On top of it all, she makes the most delicious guacamole!”

“The vital contributions of our classified staff cannot be overstated," DUSD Superintendent Chris Funk said in a statement. "These dedicated professionals—spanning maintenance, nutrition, health services, technology, administrative support, finance, and beyond—form the backbone of our district's operations. Their commitment and expertise ensure that sites across our district can nurture and inspire students. Without their support, our mission to deliver top-tier education to every student would simply be unattainable.
