The council voted 3-1 to appoint Thalblum, a planning commissioner who served as an interim Councilmember in 2018.

DUBLIN, CA — The Dublin City Council voted 3-1 to appoint Janine Thalblum as an interim council member, with Councilmember Kashef Qaadri dissenting in favor of Planning Commissioner Stephen Wright. After interviewing 17 candidates, council members decided between Wright and Thalblum, who also sits on the Planning Commission.
Thalblum was appointed right after the vote. She will serve as a council member until December, when the term ends.
Thalblum is a 25-year Dublin resident who was previously appointed to the Dublin City Council in 2018 following the passing of former Mayor Don Biddle. She has served as chair and vice chair of the Planning Commission, and has also served as chair and vice chair of the Parks and Community Services Commission. She is also the former president of the Dublin Rotary Club. She is a graduate of Dublin’s leadership academy, the Dublin Police Services Citizens Academy, and the city’s Commercial Development Task Force.
