Michael McCorriston Announces Run For Dublin City Council
McCorriston, who was appointed mayor last month, is running to represent West Dublin in the general election.

DUBLIN, CA —Dublin Mayor Michael McCorriston, whom the Dublin City Council appointed mayor after Melissa Hernandez resigned to join the board of BART, is running to represent Dublin’s District 1 in the November election, the area west of 680 and the pocket north of Amador Valley Boulevard around Dublin High School. McCorriston is a 30-year Dublin resident who has served on the City Council since 2020, and served as vice mayor in 2023. He serves on committees focusing on economic development, affordable housing, water resources, transportation, and military/veteran community affairs.
McCorriston said in a statement that his top priorities are public safety, supporting local businesses, housing inclusivity, and improving the city’s transportation network and infrastructure.
“Our diverse city continues to grow along with its need for services and infrastructure. There will be some tough budgetary decisions over the next few years,” McCorriston said in a statement. “As a council member, I will use my leadership experience to ensure city resources support necessary infrastructure requirements, while maintaining sound fiscal strategies.”

“Development efforts must be economically and environmentally sustainable, and, of course, well thought out from an aesthetic perspective,” he continued. “We can preserve our remaining natural landscapes and emphasize open space for the enjoyment of our community with intelligent development planning. As a councilmember, I will encourage redevelopment efforts that partner with developers and local skilled labor to revitalize existing structures to meet Dublin’s residential and commercial demands.”
He also hopes to expand access to housing, particularly for seniors and people who work in Dublin. ““Home affordability should be a concern for everyone,” McCorriston said. “Workforce housing is at a critical stage in the Bay Area while our seniors are finding it financially challenging to live in the Tri-Valley. The decisions we make today are the legacy for future generations of Dublin families. Let’s work together to maintain Dublin’s unique heritage in the Tri-Valley.”
