The former Southern California resident got her start two years ago as a freelance writer for San Diego Family magazine. She's been working part-time for Patch since January as a guest editor and writer in Union City, San Ramon, Castro Valley, Pleasanton and Dublin.
The seven years Johnson spent as a law enforcement officer prepared her well for a career change to online journalism: She's a sharp investigator, she has great people skills and she loves the fast-paced nature of our virtual 24/7 business model.

The Patch editor job is unlike any in journalism today. Sure our editors report and write, but they also market and promote the site and use social media like Facebook and Twitter to find out what's important to local residents.
They also rely on you, our readers, to contribute your comments and ideas. Our Dublin readers have written some amazing stories, and every day we learn about something new going on in town, thanks to all of your contributions to our events and announcements calendar.
So please let Autumn know whenever there's something going on that you think your neighbors need to know about, and she can help you post it. We're also always looking for local bloggers, so if you like to write, please sign up by clicking the blog link on the home page. No professional experience required.
You can reach Johnson at autumn.johnson@patch.com or via our Facebook page. Her phone number is 925-200-6871.
