DUBLIN, CA — A truck driver involved in a crash on I-580 westbound was arrested after CHP officers say they found over 2,000 pounds of cannabis in the back, according to the agency.

On Wednesday at around 9:55 p.m., CHP officers responded to a two-car crash on 580, just west of the 680 interchange. Officers say they noticed a strong smell of cannabis wafting from the cargo portion of the U-Haul box truck. Officers say they found over 2,000 pounds of cannabis packaged in multiple large garbage bags.

Police say they also found a suitcase containing $13,120 in cash. The U-Haul driver is facing charges related to drug possession, CHP said.
