Tri-Valley innovation events bring focus to world-class talent

During the month of June, the Tri-Valley region hosted some of the nation's most innovative companies, entrepreneurs and scientists.

PLEASANTON, CA —July 3, 2024 — During the month of June, the Tri-Valley region hosted some of the nation’s most innovative companies, entrepreneurs and scientists during two events aimed at fostering the region’s world-class talent.

On June 20th, Innovation Tri-Valley Leadership Group (ITV) and the Hertz Foundation partnered to host “THE HERTZ EFFECT” at the Pleasanton headquarters of 10x Genomics. It was an evening bringing together companies, non-profits, research institutions, startups, and thought leaders from across the Bay Area to build new connections and to celebrate the Hertz legacy of shaping the Tri-Valley region’s innovation ecosystem.

Featured speakers included Hertz Fellows and regional thought-leaders Kathleen Alexander, Founder and CEO of Savor, Megan Blewett, Co-Founder and President of Iris Medicine and William Evans, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Physics Division Leader, who shared their stories and highlighted the impact that the Hertz Foundation and the regional innovation ecosystem had on their careers. Hertz fellows John Cherian, Charles Dove, Syamantak Payra, and Millie Trimm also shared their latest research through whiteboard pitches to the unique convening of the Tri-Valley region’s brain trust of science and tech superstars. Some of the world’s greatest minds whose groundbreaking work is shaping the future were featured, and attendees engaged with fellow innovators, exchanged ideas, and forged new connections.

In addition, the TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) hosted their Youth Globals event on Wednesday, June 19th at Las Positas College in Livermore, with over 450 student-leaders engaged in workshops and training sessions led by dozens of prominent Tri-Valley CEOs, founders, business owners, and civic leaders.

This was an unprecedented opportunity for Tri-Valley students to meet with and learn from industry experts in AI, Robotics, Space, Healthcare, Culinary, Arts, Sports, Public Service, Climate, Environment, Transportation, NFTs & Blockchain, and Social Entrepreneurship. Attendees discovered trends on the future of the workforce and developed essential skills to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset for tackling industry challenges. Hosting the event in the Tri-Valley was an easy decision, given the exceptional support from all fronts with special thanks to Las Positas College, which generously opened their entire campus for us. This event was a first of its kind, from meticulous planning to successful execution.”
