Silver Lake's Forgotten Circuit City: Should It Be a Public Square?

The shell of a Circuit City still sits on Sunset Boulevard, just west of Sunset Junction.

It is occasionally remembered by activists and others who see its potential as a public space.

It was also the subject of hoax, with a comedian tweeting it would become a Whole Foods.

Now Los Angeles I'm Yours picks up the conversation.

The International Design Association just gave an award to the McAllen Public Library in Texas.

The library is hosted inside a reclaimed Walmart space.

The blog suggests that this victory makes one possible for Circuit City too, perhaps not as a library but as some kind of public square, mixing retail and office spaces.
