If anyone had doubts the U.S. military had really changed its stance on openly gay and lesbian service members, this weekend could be an eye-opener.
California National Guard Army and Air ForceΒ personnel will be recruiting at the Sacramento Pride gay prideΒ event this weekend.
The Guard made history earlier this month by being the first branch of the armed services to participate in LA Pride: an attendee waved aΒ rainbow flag from a Hummer participating in a parade at that event.
The California National Guard says it will "continue to attend Pride events in cities across the state" all summer.
Sacramento Pride starts at 11 a.m. with a parade down N Street from 3rd Street to the Capitol. A festival will be held on the Capitol Mall, between 4th and 7th streets. The parade is free and admission to the festival is $10. More information on the event is available atΒ http://www.sacramentopride.org/.
