Green Acres Seeks Elk Grove Store, Needs City Approval

Green Acres is looking to expand its chain of plant nurseries to Elk Grove, but its plans hinge on the city's OK.

"It is still a twinkle in our eyes at this point," Green Acres owner Mark Gill said in a prepared statement. "It's a hope but a lot of it is out of our hands and is up in the air."

Green Acres is askingΒ the city of Elk Grove to rezone a property at 9260 E. Stockton Blvd. It's currently zoned for office properties, and Green Acres has requested it be changed to a commercial zone.

The change would also have to be made in the city's general plan.

"We are waiting on a few outstanding items but continue to work with Green Acres to move the project forward," city spokeswoman Christine Brainerd said in an email.
