School District Will Provide Free Summer Lunches in Low-Income Neighborhoods

The Elk Grove Unified School District is presenting the Summer Food Service Program.

Kids who receive free or low-cost lunches during the school year won't have to go hungry this summer.Β 

The Elk Grove Unified School District, USDA and community groups are partnering to provide free lunches to those 18 and younger until Aug. 9.

EGUSD works with community partners to provide free summer lunches

The Elk Grove Unified School District has partnered with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and other community partners to present the Summer Food Service Program at parks, community centers and churches throughout the district. Free lunches will be provided in neighborhoods with greater than 50 percent free or reduced eligible populations. There are no income requirements for those who participate.

All locations will provide free lunches to children 18 and under until August 9, 2013. No meals will be provided on July 4, 2013. Two locations will also offer a snack service: Fletcher Farm Community Center from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Fruitridge Community Center from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
