5 Encinitas Students Honored During 'Rising Star' Event
The Rising Star program is a monthly breakfast that honors seniors from high schools in the San Dieguito Union High School District.

ENCINITAS, CA — Five Encinitas students were honored during the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce's second Rising Star of the Month event of the school year.
Kaleb Brandley from Canyon Crest Academy, Caleb Trautman from La Costa Canyon High School, Dylan Yarbrough from San Dieguito Academy, Jocelyn Liao from San Dieguito Union High School District's Online Learning Program, and Aaron Nayki from Torrey Pines High School were recognized during the Oct. 1 event at MiraCosta College's San Elijo campus.
Now in its fourth year, the Rising Star program is a monthly breakfast that honors seniors from high schools in the San Dieguito Union High School District.

The program recognizes students who demonstrate character, integrity, leadership and perseverance — qualities that make them role models in their schools and community, according to the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce.
All Rising Star students will have the opportunity to apply for scholarships that will be awarded in May at the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce's annual Salute to Education event. Since the program began, 90 students have been honored, with 17 scholarships awarded.
