Cool Zone Sites Open In Encinitas Amid San Diego Heat Wave

ENCINITAS, CA — Stay cool amid the heat wave at one of San Diego County's designated Cool Zones.

These are the Cool Zone locations in Encinitas:

• County of San Diego Library - Cardiff-by-the-Sea Branch, 2081 Newcastle Ave., Cardiff
• County of San Diego Library - Encinitas Branch, 540 Cornish Drive, Encinitas
• Encinitas Community and Senior Center, 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive, Encinitas
• San Elijo Lagoon, 2710 Manchester Ave., Cardiff

The county created the Cool Zone program two decades ago to provide free and safe air-conditioned spaces for older adults, people with disabilities and others with health concerns that could be complicated by the effects of extreme heat.

The program will run through Oct. 31. Cool Zone sites include the county's 33 branch libraries, community centers and other locations across the region.
