East County Teacher Arrested On Suspicion Of Child Sexual Abuse Of Family Member

SPRING VALLEY, CA — A teacher at a private high school in San Diego's East County was arrested on multiple felony charges involving the alleged child sexual abuse of a family member, authorities said.
Deputies initially responded on Oct. 1 to a report involving allegations that a minor had been sexually abused by a family member, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office. Detectives with the Child Abuse Unit took over the case and conducted a follow-up investigation.
Investigators said they developed probable cause to believe Kevin G. Conover, 49, committed several sex crimes against a child, sheriff's officials said.

Conover worked as a teacher at Christian Unified High School, a private school in El Cajon, according to the sheriff's office. He was arrested Tuesday outside the school at 2100 Greenfield Drive.
Conover was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of oral copulation with a victim under 18, aggravated sexual abuse of a child under 14, three counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child, and continuous sexual abuse of a child, according to the sheriff's office.
