'A Holiday In Oz' Brings Classic Tale To Life At Hotel Del Coronado

CORONADO, CA — There's no place like The Del this holiday season.

The iconic Hotel del Coronado is decked out for the holidays, and this year, visitors are invited to step into "A Holiday in Oz," a whimsical celebration that captures the wonder, color and imagination of the timeless tale of "The Wizard of Oz."

For the fifth consecutive year, Hotel del Coronado partnered with EPIC Entertainment Group to create holiday magic for the beach resort. The company, known for live event production and themed entertainment, brought the classic tale to life through immersive design, themed trees and the all-new "Wonder of Oz" Lightshow Spectacular.

"Designing 'A Holiday in Oz' has been such a joyful creative journey," said Charity Hill, managing partner at EPIC Entertainment Group. "The story of Oz is timeless ... it's about adventure, friendship and finding home, which perfectly reflects the heart of the holidays. Our goal is to create an environment where The Del's guests can truly step into that world, full of color, imagination, holiday magic and wonder."

A highlight of the installation is the Yellow Brick Road Tree Trail, where a winding path leads hotel guests and visitors past four custom 12-foot trees, each reimagining one of the classic tale's characters.

At the heart of the resort stands the 22-foot lobby tree, a centerpiece themed as the Road to Oz. Throughout the property, additional themed trees continue the story, bringing a new chapter of "The Wizard of Oz" to life.

The fan-favorite holiday light show is back with a new theme this year. The "Wonder of Oz" Lightshow Spectacular features more than 75,000 shimmering lights choreographed to an Oz-inspired twist on holiday music. The light show illuminates the historic trees on the hotel's Founders Lawn.

A Holiday in Oz is part of Hotel del Coronado's "Legendary Holidays at The Del" programming, which includes festive dining, photos with Santa, and seasonal entertainment throughout the property. The installation runs through Jan. 4, 2026.
