Encinitas-based Mobile Startup Debuts New Gifting App 'Congrats'

Local company launches first of its kind video greetings and gifting app to shake up greeting card industry.

A local mobile startup launched a first-ever video-based gifting app today, allowing people to send personalized video greetings and gifts t to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, milestones and other special occasions. Called Congrats, the free app offers a completely new mobile platform for connecting people across the globe.

In addition to creating one on one greetings, users are able to record personalized videos with up to 19 people and personalize them with filters, frames and handwritten signatures. You can also add on a Giftly – a cash gift ranging from $1 to $1,000 - and make suggestions on how the recipient can spend the money. The app also connects with Facebook (bonus!) so that you’re always on top of your friends’ celebrations.

Congrats CEO Alan Hunt notes the app offers a genuine, yet convenient experience. “Our goal in creating Congrats is to truly change the way people celebrate special occasions and milestones, no matter where they are in world—all while curbing the carbon footprint. Coupling authenticity with convenience, our video-based platform eliminates the hassles of the traditional greeting and gift-giving process, such as the time and effort invested in picking out and mailing a card or gift,” said Hunt.
